Small
Group Ministry at Trinity
Christianity,
Literature, Music and the Arts |
|
| Throughout
history, Christian faith has been reflected, interpreted and enriched
by artists, writers of fiction, poets, and musicians. The purpose
of this small group is to sample contributions from literature, music,
and the arts, and reflect on the meanings they may hold for enhancing
our understanding of our faith and life. We have made visits to
art museums in Detroit and Ann Arbor, and enjoyed moments of fellowship
and discussion afterwards. We spent an evening of discussion and
review of Shakespeare's play Othello,
and later went together to the presentation of the play at the Power
Center. We have spent evenings of discussion on current
books. For example, we read God's Secretaries, about
the King James translation of the Bible and a current books on
Islam. We also spent fascinating evenings watching classic movies
such as "Babbette's Feast." The topics and issues covered and the
events in which we have participated have varied with the interests of
members and available resources. We will meet on Sunday evening, September 25 at 7 p.m. at the home of Jane & Marty Maehr, 15 Haverhill Ct., Ann Arbor. Anyone interesting in joining this stimulating and collegial group is invited to come with ideas or suggestions for events and activities in the 2005-06 season. Facilitator: Martin Maehr (994-8904) mlmaehr@umich.edu |
